Razorback Concrete Company’s ready-mix plant in Osceola anchored a team effort in the construction of two manufacturing facilities near the Mississippi County town.
The Osceola plant, along with the Razorback Concrete plants in Blytheville and Manila, supplied the ready-mix that to form the foundation of the two manufacturing operations in Osceola. Denso Corporation, a Japanese-based manufacturer, produces air conditioners and radiators for automobiles and heavy equipment. Shimizu Kogyo, which operates under the name Systec Production Corporation, opened a plant that makes many of the plastic parts used in Denso air conditioners and radiators.
The Denso facility required some 10,000 cubic yards of ready-mix, while the Systec plant needed more than 4,000 cubic yards. Together, the two projects represented one of the larger concrete pours ever accomplished by Razorback Concrete in Mississippi County in recent years.
It was a very large project,” said Tony Beard, Razorback Concrete’s area manager who supervised the pours. Most of it was done in the very early hours of the morning. Randy Chandler and our team did a very nice job in delivering everything on time and exactly to specification.
The Denso plant covers some 217,000 square feet and will employ approximately 500 workers when it is fully operational in 2008.
Jay-Ton Construction was the concrete contractor on both projects. Hizama, Inc., was the general contractor for the Denso job, while Forcum-Lannom was general contractor for the Systec Production project.
